I didn't realise it was just us who didn't have crowds..

Lets see what he does when the crowds return, you cannot deny we have done a lot better without the crowds. Do you think we would have gone from relegation near miss to 6th if we'd have been in a normal situation. I don't think so, so let's hold judgement on how he deals with europa league and premier before hailing him the messiah.

No one can argue against him after this season. Sure he has made some mistakes with team selection (Brighton home for an example) but if you had offered any of us 6th at the start of the season we all would have bitten the hand off. He has instilled an excellent work ethic and we have the best team spirit I think I have ever known. Hats off to him and well done. More of the same please.

Anyone that thought Moyes was a similar manager to Sam either never watched he's Everton team or know nothing about football.

Some around me were singing David Moyes claret and blue army on Sunday. Not heard that since Pardew maybe?

Fraser - You are right. I cannot remember anytime we've followed up a good season with an even better one.
However, I also don't remember too many WHU teams like this one, where for much of the season, we've exhibited a real never-say-die attitude. The boys and the manager have really surprised me this year. It is so un-West Ham-like.
So I am filled with a new optimism for next season which feels based in my head, rather than where they fade and die, my heart.

I can take a poor domestic season as long as we have a good go in Europe.

Have we ever not followed up a good season with a complete disappointment of a season?
I'm not expecting too much

I doubt they would pull the trigger, we need to stick with Moyes now, unless it really does go to shit. I think being in Europe will help if things not going so great in the league. It's a constant reminder that we just had a good season, and credit in the bank.

True. I've tried to be pretty honest about criticizing decisions he's made. But he survived that horror season at Everton and they went on to have an amazing few years. I hope we don't pull the trigger too early with Moyes if he has a disappointing league campaign next season.

Darby - Well if we have 'a bit of a disaster' next season, I highly doubt they will be lining up to praise him. Left keep it real.

What I hope for him is that he'll replicate his success at Everton and more. That is, have us punching well above our weight for years. Top four every now and then and European football almost every season.
It's pretty obvious that some of the Moyes out crowd are posting through gritted teeth at the moment. Moyes' second season at Everton was a bit of a disaster, and if he does it with us next season, I'm sure they'll be back.

This season isn't just special because of where we finished, but because of the massive season-on-season improvement.
Relegation "contenders" to Champions' League contenders.
Do it again, and Man City'll be trailing in our wake.
Not that I expect that.

I wonder how Moyes regards this season compared to his Everton days?
I dimly remember him having some pretty good seasons with them, but nothing as good as this.

I never wanted him replaced by Pellegrini in the first place but if I'm honest I never dreamed he could get us playing the way we have this season, the way we attacked with speed and in numbers was at times sublime and I haven't seen a team spirit as good as this in many years. Like others have said I think the whole backroom team have been brilliant and that must be down to Moyes too, I'd be happy to sing his name next season and hope to get tome at least one of the Europa games. Happy Days and we haven't had too many of them recently! COYI's

I didn't want him. i didn't want another BFS or similar. I always thought that Moyes was a negative person with no real vision. I hold my hands up and admit that i was wrong about him. untill recently i was concerned about his attitude towards the so-called "BIG" teams, but i think that might be changing now. we are now officially a BIG team ourselves, one of the top six. so apologies to you David Moyes, you've convinced me and thank you for the superb season that we've just had. now it's onwards and upwards with a European tour to boot. COYI !!!!.

I watched some beautiful football this season.
On the wings particularly we were absolute mustard at times showing great awareness of where other players were making runs and some lovely close control, one touch football.
Despite hating the owners with a vengeance and him not being given sufficient funds, any time we got an important injury he and his team fixed the problem by converting another player or having adequate backup with the exception of left-back.
It was a great season and I'm sad that I couldn't watch it from the stands but thank you David Moyes and your team, you made lockdown slightly more bearable and I am very grateful.

A couple of things I realised today:
Firstly, we didn't concede four in any league match all season. Have we achieved that in a top flight season before? I still find it ridiculous that in 98/99 we finished fifth despite conceding four eight times across the season.
Secondly, in twelve matches we scored three or more goals (i.e. pretty much a third of the games we played). Not bad for a manager with a reputation of playing dour football!
